Katherine Sheamansmith

Katherine Sheamansmith is an American-born singer who grew up in Portland, Oregon, and has also lived in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Durango, Colorado, and Cumberland, Maryland. She now resides in the Raleigh, NC, area, where she teaches private voice lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.

Katherine has been singing since she was in elementary school and has always had a love of music. She has been involved in choirs for over sixteen years, and has also performed in musicals and opera scenes, as well as two solo recitals to date. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance with Voice Focus at Fort Lewis College. Throughout her undergraduate years, she had many amazing opportunities to work with artists such as Joyce Lyons, Andy Kunst, Dr. Linda Mack, and Dr. Toby Yatso. She has also had the great pleasure to learn under Dr. Kerry Ginger, Dr. Charissa Chiaravalotti, and Dr. Campi Walters. Most recently, she performed with Quintessence as a choral scholar in their Summer Festival.

Katherine has been working privately as a tutor since 2014, and has been certified at the college level for tutoring. The main lesson she strives to impart to every student is that perceived personal skill should never dampen a love for music, its effects, or its process. Everyone has their own unique goals, learning pace, and personal voice, and loving what one can do is far more important than being the next American Idol contestant.

Katherine loves working with students of all ages and helping them reach their own personal goals with every lesson.
