Piano
Always fond of music, Ian Griffith began playing piano at age eight and has been performing for over 20 years. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, Ian participated in numerous piano recitals and music competitions, including events at Meredith College. In March 2010, Ian received an Excellent Certificate in the Young Artist Auditions for a classical piano performance.
In high school, Ian expanded their musical interests by learning guitar and taking guitar classes during junior and senior year. Ian holds an Associate in Arts degree from Wake Technical Community College and an Associate in Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from Central Carolina Community College.
Outside of teaching, Ian regularly performs at several open mics in the Triangle. Over the years, Ian has studied under many piano and guitar instructors, but credits their first piano teacher, Alys Eaton, for fostering their early confidence and love for the instrument.
Ian began teaching in the fall of 2023 after discovering an opportunity to share their passion for music with others. In lessons, Ian encourages every student to reach their fullest potential while having fun along the way, regardless of their musical goals. Ian takes care to ensure each student builds a solid foundation in sight-reading, rhythm, chord structure, and music theory, always tailoring instruction to each student’s experience and skill level.
